Located close to the historic center of Nardò, near the Cathedral and the entrance to the village, Palazzo Vaglio is certainly one of the most romantic residences in the city, one of the few that has preserved the charm of the bourgeois residences of the late nineteenth century. The palace was completely restored with the precise intention of renovating the entire building, maintaining the elegance and original architectural value. The sensitivity of the owner on environmental issues has led to sustainable and innovative renovation design choices, using passive strategies such as solar energy, rainwater collection and reuse systems, in order to significantly reduce the negative impact of the structure on the environment. The rooms and halls have the typical star and pavilion vaults, used in the constructions of Salento. The focal point of the building is the skylight, that illuminates the purple grit stairs. The staircase on the second floor leads to the terrace, where you can enjoy the view of the domes of the Duomo and the churches of Nereto. Inside the rooms of the Palace, a collection of author's paintings is exhibited, the result of a fascinating collaboration "on -going” with local collectors, as well as a surprising mix of contemporary and vintage design objects.
Our idea is to create a Guesthouse in the wonderful and lively baroque center of Nardò, where guests can meet and appreciate the local taste and tradition, and, at the same time, being just a few minutes away from the marvellous beaches of Salento and the beautiful sea of Nardò.
